Similarly, she is also known for shows such as Dallas Fresh with Guest D’Andra Simmons and I Don’t Give a Rip. She is the owner of the skincare line Hard Night Good Morning which she founded in 2008.
As the title suggests, we are here to discuss D’Andra Simmons’ past plastic surgery. She has never been shy about discussing her procedures.
Similarly, she also discussed how, post-plastic surgery, she gained weight, felt “like a monster,” and was left “depressed.”
D’Andra Simmons Reveals Having A FaceLift
The Real Housewives of Dallas star has always been open about her past surgeries. In her 2019 interview with The Lookbook, the 53-year-old revealed she had a facelift in early January 2019.
A facelift is a procedure that involves pulling back the facial muscles in order to reconstruct them to the patient’s liking, most commonly in order to de-age.
The average cost of a facelift is estimated to be between $7,400 and $8,000 by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
Talking about her facelift procedure, Simmons stated:
“I’m all about telling people what I do, OK. I had a facelift. I wanted to have my hair blonde because I didn’t want people to notice my face because it takes a while to, you know, look like yourself again. So I thought, well, if they notice the hair, they’re not going to notice the face. So that’s really why I did it.”
She continued saying that she always wanted to have a facelift since her mother also had one and felt like it was the right age.
“I had always been planning it because of course my mother has had a few, and you need to do it before you need to do it, basically, so it’s not so noticeable. So she had her first facelift, I think she was 47. So, 50, I’m in the right age group and age time.”
The reality star also mentioned that since she sells skincare (Hard Night, Good Morning) for a living, it was important for her to tell her fans about the reality of human skin and how it can be saved or changed.
“My neck was bothering me. I sell skincare for a living and what I’ll tell people is that no matter what skincare you use or laser or tightening, there’s nothing that’s going to fix gravity. That’s just the way it is. So, if you want to have that youthful fresh look, you’re going to have to get a facelift. You’re going to have to have surgery.”
Reveals Having Weight Issues And Suffered From Depression Post Facelift Procedure
D’Andra Simmons got candid in her interview with The Feast, where she talked about her battle with depression and how she gained 25 pounds following her facelift.
She said, “Nobody tells you that you get depressed. My husband took me out to California where I had [the facelift] done, and then he had to leave three days later to go to National Geographic”.
“And so I was there, stuck in a beach house for a month by myself, and it got depressing”.
The actress/director Simmons then turned to food for comfort, including daily visits to a nearby donut shop, resulting in weight gain.
‘Well, my favorite donut place in the world is in Costa Mesa, California, and it’s called Sidecar. So of course I was going there daily to Sidecar Donuts and having my cake donuts and I gained 25 pounds before the season started.’
It is always important to care for one’s mental health, and it is refreshing and inspiring to see a celebrity being vulnerable and sharing her insecurities with the world.
