Said your goodbyes to ‘Hope‘ already? Yeah, on Days of Our Lives. Kristian Alfonso has said goodbye to Salem herself, and it’s unbelievable it’s been 37 years since we last saw her, if you were alive back then. Still, it’s the fall of one of the greats from the show.
And all through those years, Alfonso’s evolution from Hope to ‘Gina‘ and then recognized as Hope again. Along with that, anyone who’s ever seen her on the show knows how she evolved in beauty as well.
Alfonso’s in her 50s, and with her time on the show, you’d expect her to get some plastic surgery to her face to keep glowing. But it seems she’s decided against it. Of course, you wouldn’t want your favorite characters to age gracefully on the show as well, one of the best things a TV star could do.
Kristian Alfonso Insisted She Would Never Get Plastic Surgery in 2014, She’s Afraid of It
Plastic surgery is something some soap actors want to opt for at times. But you’ll rarely find these actors actually having done it, considering how everyone else in Hollywood would want to do it at some point or other. And Kristian Alfonso falls into that category of people who prefer not to get it at all.

“I want my grandchildren to recognize me … and my children,” Alfonso told the Daily Telegraph in 2014. “In the old pictures they’ll say she’s aged and you know, she’s lived life.”
Alfonso has been married to husband Danny Daggenhurst for almost two decades now, and he’s also had an effect on her decision to back out of plastic surgery at all. It’s unclear if she’s had any plastic surgery or non-evasive procedures, but seeing that they’re still together just goes to show she may not have chosen it at all.

“I just say to my hubby, ‘You know what honey, I’m just going to age gracefully.’ I’m too afraid to do anything,” she continues in the interview. So yeah, Daggenhurst is not telling her to get off of plastic surgery, but she is choosing to stay out of it for her husband.
Alfonso Announced Her ‘Days’ Exit, But If It’s Part of the Cost-Cutting Measure, We’ll Never Know
Back in November 2019, the entire Days cast was reported to be released from their contracts as a cost-cutting measure, just days before NBC renewed it for the 56th season. And Alfonso’s announcement of her exit came just a week ago when she took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the show.
It’s unclear if the two decisions are related in any way, but it’s probably time for her character Hope to move on anyway. She’s built up quite a life in those 37 years of existence on the show. Alfonso’s bidding farewell to the character in a very fair way, of course.

“Days of Our Lives has been a vital part of both my personal and professional journey,” the actress began in a farewell statement on Instagram. “I am forever grateful to NBC and the late Betty Corday, who took a chance on me many years ago and changed my life.”
“I will not be returning to Days when it resumes production in September. I’ve already filmed my last episode several months ago,” she concluded her pictured statement. “Finally, to the incredibly loyal fans of Days, many of you have been with me on this journey from the beginning. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, love and support. I could not have done it without YOU!!!”
