Hoechlin technically started acting when he was a baby as he appeared in a few commercials. His big break came at the age of 13 when the then-teenager grabbed the role in Road to Perdition alongside Tom Hanks.

Later, the actor joined the cast of 7th Heaven as Martin Brewer in 2003. The role made the teenage sensation, and he became a household name.

After a few years, Tyler again grabbed the limelight, appearing as dashing werewolf Derek Hale in the hit television series Teen Wolf alongside Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien.

Though the show ended on September 24, 2017, in 2022, it was revealed that the show was coming with a movie. The casts, however, were missing major names, including Tyler’s.

Tyler Lee Hoechlin was born on September 11, 1987, in Corona, California, to parents Lori and Don Hoechlin. His family comes from the ethnic background of Native American, German, and Irish. The six feet tall actor is currently 34-years-old.

Along with his two brothers and an older sister, Tyler attended Santiago High School, where he graduated in 2006. Many people might not know this, but the actor loved baseball more than acting initially.

Hoechlin started playing baseball at seven and was very good at it. He also played throughout high school and was offered a scholarship to Arizona State University. Later, he transferred to the University of California, Irvine, where he played infield as a second baseman for the UC Irvine Anteaters.

During that time, simultaneously, his acting career was also going smoothly. Tyler, however, decided to give more focus to baseball and turn down many roles, including the role of Emmett Cullen in the Twilight franchise.
