Henry Cavill Not Done with ‘Superman’ Just Yet, Despite Allegations That He Quit

Whoever said Henry Cavill was done with portraying the ‘Man of Steel’ might need to revisit their sources.

It was Warner Bros.? They did not actually say Henry Cavill wanted out of the whole DC franchise when contract negotiations for a Shazam! cameo allegedly broke down. They originally mentioned no decision was made. But now it seems, he might be assured to come back for another Superman role.

According to Variety, sources say The Witcher star is said to be in talks to return as Clark Kent again in an upcoming DC Comics movie. According to the source, he is probably set for cameos in one of the movies from the DC Universe, that includes Aquaman 2, The Suicide Squad and The Batman. However, he won’t be appearing in director Zack Snyder‘s announced Snyder Cut of Justice League for HBO Max.

Cavill first appeared in Snyder’s Superman origin story, Man of Steel, in 2013 and continued his appearances in the subsequent DC movies, 2016’s Batman v Superman and 2017’s Justice League. And almost two years go, there were rumors he’d called it quits as Superman over contract fail.

In a December 2019 cover story for Men’s Health, he assured he was not giving up the cape role at all. “The cape is still in the closet,” he stated. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

Cavill most recently got big bucks for his starring role of ‘Geralt of Rivia‘ in Netflix’s The Witcher. Putting that fabricated wage gap war aside, there’s another anticipation for Cavill’s return to the scene as Man of Steel. Deadline first reported the return news.
