Bebe Rexha‘s got a lot going on since the rise to fame through Meant to Be in 2017. And it’s not just in the music industry. She’s faced quite a lot for her body image as well. A specific part of it was in the Grammys in February 2019 when none of the designers out there would dress her because of her size.
The singer took to Instagram to explain her frustration of finding a dress for the award show when a host of designers refused to make a dress of size 6-8 for her. Some did reach out to her afterward, but she was determined to take her “size 8 ass ” to the Grammys with her own plunging crimson Monsoori confection with layers of tulle flowing into a voluminous skirt.
Speaking of her “size 8 ass”, many think it’s artificial. Or many thought so. She was additionally accused of getting a nose job, lip fillers and even a boob job. The latter one just may be clever dressing.
Bebe Rexha Is Terrified of Plastic Surgery and Has a Deviated Septum
For quite a while, Rexha was accused of a number of plastic surgery procedures, mentioned above. But despite having noticed all the comments on the web, she was not actually acknowledging it until her cover interview for Health Magazine.
The 30-year-old was pointed out about her plastic surgery rumors, specifically a nose job or butt implants. She’s crushed the rumors with an alibi to vouch for her not-fake ass. And as for her nose, she says she has a deviated septum, and she keeps getting sinus infections, maybe resulting in the shape.
For fixing it though, she is frightened of it and doesn’t want to mess up her nose. In fact, she is afraid of going under the knife altogether. But if she does decide to get plastic surgery, she says she will actually reveal it immediately. She wants to get her boobs lifted one day.
“My friend’s a stylist, and he works with other people in the industry, and they’ve talked about my butt, not knowing he’s my best friend,” she said in the June 2019 cover of Health Magazine. “They’re like, ‘It’s so fake.’ And he’s like, ‘I’ve known this girl forever; that ass is not fake.’ I’ve never had my butt done.”
“I’ve never had my nose done,” she continued. “Actually, I have a deviated septum, and I keep getting sinus infections, and I’m scared to get that [fixed]. I’m scared to go under the knife—I don’t want it to mess up my nose! If I got work done, I would definitely say it. I definitely want to get my boobs lifted one day. If it makes me feel better and sexy? I’m like, do whatever you want.”
Struggling with Body and Weight Is Just the Secret to That A**, Probably
Among the things she’s open about, which is almost everything, mental health and body image are probably the most important ones. “Ever since I was little, I’ve been thicker,” she says. “When I first got signed to one of my deals, my managers were like, ‘Are you ready to get into boot-camp shape?’ “
She was asked to lose 20 pounds, and that affected her mentality. Visiting the therapist was not uncommon. However, she has done the slimming down thing before. “I could definitely get there,” she says. “I’ve done it before, where I was 120-something pounds—and I was just miserable. I was always cold, never eating; I had no ass. Now I look at those pictures like, ‘Oh my God, I was so skinny.’ But I wouldn’t go back there.”
She did not try to lost weight before that Health cover shoot, but she was like, “You know what, when will I ever be ready?” And when that a big thing like Grammy came around, she was disappointed that the incident occurred. She took to Instagram to release a video explaining her disappointment.
In response to the video, she was approached by designer August Getty with an offer to design a dress for her. Karl Lagerfeld, Jeremy Scott of Moschino and Christian Siriano did too. But the Monsoori dress was what she went with.
